The contract for the $1.4 million, 2012 Phase I Arterial & Collector Street Reconstruction Project may be awarded at the Aug. 28 Mesquite City Council meeting.
But the item is to be explained to the council, Tuesday, Aug. 21, 1:30 p.m., during the technical review meeting of the Aug. 28 agenda. The meeting is to be held in the training room in Mesquite City Hall, 10 E. Mesquite Blvd. Items on the technical review meeting agenda may be explained to the council, but no deliberation is allowed.
The council also is to review Aug 21 a second contract that may come up for a vote at the Aug. 28 meeting: the bid award for the sidewalk enhancement project at the Mesquite Sports and Event Center, 1635 Bertha Howe Ave.
Three resolutions which will be on the council’s Aug. 28 agenda also will be introduced to the council at the technical review meeting:
Resolution No. 745 would support changing how directors on the Virgin Valley Water District board are selected. At its last meeting, the VVWD board failed to pass a motion by Director Ted Miller to request the Nevada Legislature to allow all of the board’s five directors to be elected directly by the people. But the board agreed to begin the process of discussing the change with affected public bodies and water-users.
Resolution No. 746 would approve the Oct. 30, delinquent-tax sale of property in the Canyon Crest and Anthem special improvement districts.
Resolution No. 747 would approve the fiscal year 2012-13 Inter-local contract with Clark County for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).
Warren Hardy of Hardy Consulting Group is on the Aug. 28 agenda to present an update of legislative matters affecting the city. Hardy is a paid consultant for the city and VVWD. His agenda item also is to be reviewed at the technical review meeting.
Another item up for review, but not deliberation, is proclaiming Sept. 10-16, 2012, “Elks National Patriotism Week.”
The revised assessment roll for the Anthem of Mesquite Special Improvement District No. 07-01 and Aug. 28 approval of the reapportionment report also is scheduled for review Aug. 21.
The council is to be asked on Aug. 28 to name City Finance Director Debbie Cardenas to the Clark County Community Development Advisory Board and accountant Dodie Melendez as the alternative member. That, too, will be reviewed at the technical review meeting, Aug. 21.
