The Mesquite Veterans Center again plans to sponsor the “Any Soldier Project” this year and needs the support of the community, according to Jim Carrick.
Donations of the needed items may be dropped off at the veterans’ center, 840 Hafen Lane, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Needed items include; beef jerky, tropical fruit mix, hard candies, trail mix, nuts, gum, books, magazines, low-cost electronic games and toiletries. In addition, cash donations to help cover the cost of shipping also are accepted.
“If you are interested in volunteering to help package the items for shipment to our troops overseas contact the veterans’ center at 346-2735 and leave your name and telephone number so we can get back to you when we packing dates are established,” Carrick added.
