Beaver Dam Elementary School Eaglets have been busy supplementing academic activities with motivational endeavors that encourage them to come to school, work hard and play to stay healthy.

The Golden Bucket Award is bestowed upon the class with the best attendance for the month.  Taking first place for the second month in a row was Cindy Steven’s fifth-grade class!  With a whopping 96-percent attendance rate for November, this class personifies responsibility when it comes to being at school.  There must be some exciting activities being planned in that class by an excellent teacher who knows how to encourage students to come to school each day!

The Hard Hat heroes for the month of November were recognized for their exemplary efforts to do well academically and to aspire to the “get-‘er-done” tenacity necessary for success.  Receiving this honor were:  Juan Santos (kindergarten), Katrina Beltran (first grade), Natali Martinez and Benjamin Stones (second grade), Erick Gonzales (third grade), Dana Gomez (fourth grade), Ivan(D’Angelo) Alvarado (fifth grade), and Isaac Perez and Leticia Beltran (sixth grade).

On Wednesday, Nov. 21, the students competed in the third annual Pop Run.  This is a race in which girls and boys of each class race to the finish for the prize of a package full of pops. There is a can of pop, popcorn, and a Tootsie Pop for the first five winners in each category.  All Eaglets receive a Tootsie Pop for participating.  Wednesday’s race was held on the spacious playground lawn with the perfect, sunny weather that permeates the Virgin Valley this time of year.  Winners of each event were:  Danny Frates and Aaliyah Collier (kindergarten), Dezmond Sponseller and Jazmyn Welch (first grade), Arath Santos and Jimena Gutierrez (second grade), Mario Hernandez and Tabby Swenson (third grade), Jeffrey Starks and Marlene Aguirre (fourth grade), Cesar Soto and Kimberly Swenson (fifth grade), Tanner Reber and Yatzary Flores (sixth grade).
