There's a new addiction that many Mesquite and surrounding area residents are experiencing.
It's a new way to sell items that are no longer needed, without having to fight the heat and grueling sweat of setting up a normal garage/yard sale.
Welcome to "Mesquite Area Online Yard Sale," a group of just over 1,000 people buying and selling their items on their own time. No more waiting for the weekend, these members are scouring the page daily to find the next best thing.
Creator of the group, Tanisha Wittwer, said "it only makes sense, especially for Mesquite. These summer months are too hot to have a yard sale, so this allows the same from the comforts of our homes."
She was especially surprised at the response the group has had. Although it was created and opened about two weeks ago, she never expected to have this many members join and participate.
"It's quite amazing. After creating the group, I mentioned it to some friends over Facebook, and it just took off like a wildfire."
