On April 15, We Care for Animals hosted a "We Cook for Animals" fundraising event at Sun City Mesquite.
The event featured the Eureka Resort Casino’s Executive Chef Scott McGlinchey and his cooking associates demonstrating recipes on how to throw an amazingly fun home party; offered many wonderful prizes from local artists and businesses and showcased a variety of vendors from Mesquite, St. George, Utah, and Las Vegas.
One of those vendors, Julie Spiegel, sells pet harnesses and more with “Carmine’s Corner” and also the “Wickless Candle System” from “Scentsy.” Spiegel uses the proceeds from these endeavors toward her Spiegel Burn Foundation.
The Spiegel Burn Foundation services people recovering from devastating home fires and offers financial aid for those who need it to rebuild their lives and recover from painful burns. Spiegel also uses these funds to supply pet-sized oxygen masks to fire departments to carry on their rigs so they can provide immediate medical care to our family animal members with “smaller faces.”
"We Cook for Animals" was a success on many levels, including fund raising, networking, knowledge, awareness and an afternoon of fun. We had no idea just how Spiegel’s booth had faired.
The answer is that the Spiegel Burn Foundation has donated to We Care for Animals two pet oxygen mask kits to donate to the Mesquite Fire Department. What a gift!
Now, heaven forbid, if a fire truck has to visit your home, it now carries the proper tools to aid absolutely any member of your household and keep them breathing until they can be treated by a medical team. We Care for Animals is proud to be able to provide this gift to our hard working Mesquite fire units. We hope they never have to use them! A special thanks to Julie Spiegel and the Spiegel Burn Foundation for their good work.
