Noted local artist Susan Bergstrom will teach a 2-day art workshop titled, “Right Brain, Art as Therapy.”
Scheduled Thursday, Sep 27, 9a-4p and Friday, Sep 28, 1-5p, Susan’s art workshop will concentrate on developing drawing skills using the intuitive capabilities of the right side of the brain. The fee for this intensive, rewarding 2 days of art training is $100.
Susan developed her own artistic technique before the “right brain” concept of creative training was popularized. Self-taught, she has studied extensively, and pulls principles from many sources to teach her students how to advance their own art abilities. She has instructed private and public art classes for over 30 years. Susan’s objective is to lead her students to be so excited about their artistic advancement that they will enthusiastically continue their art.
Enrollment for Bergstrom’s class is limited, and instruction is geared to each student’s level. Advance reservation and payment is handled at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery, 15 West Mesquite Blvd. Enrollees will be given a list of basic drawing materials to bring to class. Those materials are available for purchase in Mesquite at reasonable cost.
Virgin Valley Artists Association sponsors Bergstrom’s class. Her class fee helps benefit the diverse art education program VVAA offers to the public, from free kids’ and seniors’ art classes to public lectures,
art exhibitions, and other cultural programs. VVAA also receives funding from Nevada Arts Council, NEA Artworks, City of Mesquite, Greater Mesquite Arts Foundation and generous local businesses and
individual donors. The organization operates the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery with all-volunteer staffing,
and sustains its operations through sale of its members’ original art. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Phone 702-346-1338, website www.mesquitefineartscenter.com.
