'Go for Gold Butte' winners to be displayed

All of the entries in the "Go for Gold Butte" art and photography contest are to be placed on public display, according to Linda Faas. president of the Virgin Valley Artists Association.

"The entire contest collection is to be displayed at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery (15 W. Mesquite Blvd.), Sept. 4-29 in conjunction with our themed exhibition, 'Desert Treasures.'"  Faas said.

Char Lang's winning watercolor painting is on display at the gallery while Faas' photo, which won first place in the photography section of the contest, can be seen in the Gold Butte information room at the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce Office, 12 W. Mesquite Blvd.

The Eureka Casino Resort is to design publicity pieces and a festival poster for the Chamber of Commerce which will include the winners of the "Go for Gold Butte" contest.

"Watch for those to be distributed within a few weeks," Faas said. The Gold Butte Days Festival is scheduled Oct. 12-13 in Mesquite.

"We aim to make this a community celebration of the wonderful desert that surrounds us and Mesquite’s opportunity to become the 'Gateway to Gold Butte.'" she added.
