Calligraphy lecture set Aug. 7

Carole Foster of Cedar City, Utah, is to present “A Better Letter: The Art of Calligraphy” at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 7. Foster's presentation is the August edition of the Virgin Valley Artists Association's (VVAA) "Brown Bag" lunch lectures, presented the first Tuesday of the month for the past eight years.

Foster began her career as an artist in the 1980s. She eventually developed an interest in calligraphy, or finely done, hand lettering.  This art form has become the bulk of her work in recent years.

Foster's lecture is to be held at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery, 15 W. Mesquite Blvd. Aug. 7 also is the opening of the gallery's monthly, themes exhibit. The theme is august is to be "Light and Shadow," with interpretations by members of thge VVAA. The exhibit is sponsored by the Farmers Insurance Bill Mitchell Agency.
