Big Band Swing Show coming this weekend
The sounds of Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey will be coming to the Mesquite Community Theatre this weekend.
Larry LeMieux and the Greater Mesquite Arts Foundation will feature “The Big Band Swing Show” with music from the 1940s as part of the Mesquite Concert Series.
Felicia Smith is to introduce the newly formed Mesquite Community Band, which is anchored by pianist Rita Hermie. The band includes local musicians and guest trumpet player Rick Boniface from Minnesota.
The band has assembled a group of vocalists who will recreate the songs of another era. As an added bonus, Larry and Ava LeMieux will be adding their dancing skills to some of the numbers.
These first performances of this season’s Mesquite Concert Series are scheduled Oct. 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. The Mesquite Community Theatre is located at 150 N. Yucca St. The box office is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. until 7p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon, and one hour prior to shows.
