A ribbon cutting was held Aug. 13 to celebrate the new nursing lab at the College of Southern Nevada campus located in Mesquite.

Site Coordinator Darlene Montague cut the ribbon just after 5 p.m.

“I want to thank everyone who was on my health care coalition who helped with this,” Montague said in front of the group of over 25 people.  One of the people in attendance to celebrate the event was Mesquite Mayor Mark Wier.

“This has been a long, long, time coming,” Wier said.  “I’m just very happy and excited about this.  What a great step for the community.”

Montague noted that it has been a 12-year process.

Having the nursing lab in Mesquite is a benefit to local students because they don’t have to commute to and from Las Vegas.  Many students are going into the medical field and nursing is one of the most popular programs CSN offers.
