Chamber hires new CEO

Vicky Walter has been named Mesquite Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Operating Officer.

Walter comes to the Mesquite chamber with more than two decades of experience in project and business management for profit and non-profit corporations, higher education, city, state and federal government.

Prior to joining the chamber, Walter worked in public affairs at National Security Technologies, LLC, a federal contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy. Her program development competencies gained recognition as she grew The Nevada Regional Science Bowl program by doubling participation, increasing financial support and raising the level of public and governmental awareness as she took the final competition from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, to Vegas PBS for airing.

Her program management skills were featured at the national level in Washington D.C. Walter's background also includes university and community relations at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

She studied communications at Regis University and holds numerous certifications, including a leadership certification from her work at Regis.

Walter grew up in Las Vegas and calls Nevada home. She said when not working, she enjoys photography and writing. She is married and has three children.

She will assume her duties on Jan. 7.
