On Oct. 19 at approximately 4:30 p.m., A Mesquite Police K9 Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation and observed evidence the driver was involved in criminal activity.  The Officer’s investigation led to the recovery of more than ten pounds of marijuana edible candies and

two handguns.

The next day on Oct. 20  at approximately 4:18 p.m., the same Mesquite K9 Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and the investigation led to over ten pounds of vacuum sealed raw marijuana being located hidden in the trunk.

On the first traffic stop, the driver, Frank Lopez, 26, of Chicago IL was arrested and charged with: One felony count of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana oils, wax, or edibles over 1/8 oz) and one misdemeanor count of driving with a revoked driver’s license.

On the second traffic stop, the driver and passenger, Cooper Stahl, 21, of Coldwater MI and Dylan Costello, 19, of Rochelle IL were arrested and each charged with one felony count of unlawful possession for sales of a controlled substance (marijuana).

Nevada law allows a person to be in possession of up to 1 ounce of recreational marijuana or up to 1/8 ounce of concentrate (oils, candies, etc.).
