The Beaver Dam High volleyball squad won one of three home matches contested during the last five days.
After dropping a five-game match to league foe Beatty on Friday, the Lady Diamondbacks recovered the next day to sweep Arizona rival Fredonia, 3-0. BDHS fell to Coral Academy of Science, 3-0, on Tuesday.
The results leave Beaver Dam at 1-3 in the 1A Southern League and 4-10 overall.
Against Beatty, the Lady D-Backs captured the first game 25-22, but the Lady Hornets came back to win the next two games, 25-18 and 25-15.
BDHS won the fourth game, 25-22, to even the match at 2-2 and force a fifth-game tiebreaker. Beatty captured the final game, 17-15, to win the match, 3-2.
The Lady D-Backs came back from the tough loss less than 24-hours later to sweep the visiting Lynx of Fredonia.
Tuesday, Beaver Dam fell in three sets to Coral Academy of Science. The match was scheduled to be played in Henderson, but the Lady Falcons’ new campus gymnasium wasn’t ready, so the match was rescheduled for BDHS with Coral Academy designated the home team.
Nancy Lopez and Elizabeth Jensen led the Lady D-Backs with 100 percent serving success. Lopez was 6-for-6 with Jensen was 5-for-5 with two aces.
April Snyder recorded three kills with Jensen getting two. Dakota Hurst had one kill and three blocks.
“We are starting to have some confidence in our skills,” BDHS head coach Charyn McDonnell said. “Our serving is becoming stronger and more consistent.”
The Lady D-Backs have just three matches remaining in the regular season, all of them league contests. BDHS will be at Liberty Baptist in Las Vegas on Thursday and at Indian Springs on Oct. 19. The Lady D-Backs will close out their season at home against Word of Life on Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.
