Playing one of its most complete matches of the season, the young Beaver Dam High volleyball team swept host Indian Springs, 3-0, Friday night in a 1A Southern League contest at Thunderbird Gym.

The victory improved the Lady Diamondbacks to 2-4 in league play and 5-11 overall. Indian Springs fell to 2-4 in league and 2-7 overall.

“The girls played as good as they can play for where they are in their skills,” BDHS head coach Charyn McDonnell said. “I couldn’t have asked them to do any more than what they offered up. It goes without saying that I’m very proud of them.”

Dakota Hurst, the lone senior of the squad, led the way for the Lady Diamondbacks serving 15-of-17 with seven aces. She also added three kills and four assists.

“Dakota usually has more kills, but she unselfishly set the ball to her teammates on many occasions,” McDonnell said.

Sophomore Elizabeth Jensen served 11-of-12 with four aces and had nine kills while freshman Shyanne Pierce served 16-of-17 with four aces. She also added four kills.

Sophomore setter Nancy Lopez recorded 14 assists with sophomore April Snyder adding eight kills and two aces.

The Lady D-Backs also had a strong night in the passing department led by junior Sandra Beltran with a 2.2 and junior Vanessa Quevado with a 2.1.

“It was just a super job by everyone,” McDonnell added.

Beaver Dam will host league foe Word of Life from Las Vegas (1-5 league, 1-8 overall) in the season finale on Friday at 5 p.m. inside the BDHS gymnasium.
