Bulldog-Grizzlies game preview

Virgin Valley will be on the road again when they face the Spring Valley Grizzlies in a non-conference matchup. The game will be the final tune up for the Bulldogs before they make their final push at home against Sunrise Mountain and their archrival, Moapa Valley High School. The Grizzlies have had an up and down season in 4A league play after making the playoffs the past two seasons. Spring Valley was shut out this past week 47-0 by Durango leaving them with a 2-3 record overall. Their only common opponent with the Dawgs was their 20-13 win over Clark. The Bulldogs defeated the Chargers 28-20 in their opener. The Grizzlies are led by quarterback Mason DeCunzo who leads them in most statistics including passing and rushing. DeCunzo has almost 800 of the Grizzlies 1148 offensive yards for the season. The Grizzlies run a multiple set offense with the Q.B. in the mix on most plays.

The Bulldogs will counter with an offensive display that has put up over 2700 yards in 7 games. Wyatt Delano leads the Dawgs rushers with 981 yards and Meb Hollingshead has passed for 878 yards and is the second leading rusher with 263 yards. The Bulldogs should control the tempo of the game with their rushing attack and mix of passing plays to keep the Grizzlies defense on their toes. The Dawgs held Delano back in their 35-0 shutout of Rancho. “We will have our hands full with the Grizzlies,” said Bulldog coach Matt Woods. “They are big and fast, we just need to do our thing and control the ball.” It should be a good game with the edge going to the Bulldogs behind their ball control attack.
