Letter to the Editor-Hauser

I was very disappointed to read the article about Mesa View Hospital’s decision to discontinue Labor and Delivery services here in Mesquite. 63 babies were born at the hospital in a year, which apparently isn’t enough, but in my opinion, it doesn’t matter if that number is 5 or 500, obviously the service is needed!

We have lived here for 11 years and we have seen many doctors come and go at Mesa View, mostly good doctors that didn’t stay because of the way they were treated. And in those 11 years, there has been one constant, the Mesquite Women’s Clinic and all of the services and care they provide, including obstetrics! I hope the decision made by Ned Hill doesn’t put them in jeopardy too!

Maybe, instead of discontinuing a needed service, Mesa View should consider discontinuing the contract with their CEO and hiring someone that cares about our community as much as we do!

But the CEO was hired to increase profits. Reducing or eliminating critical services is one way to increase profits. Since when did “for profit” health care entities actually cared for your health? It is only the bottom line.
