The Virgin Valley High School girls’ soccer team opened 3A Sunrise play on the road on Monday, Sept. 17, with a 2-1 victory over Boulder City. The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first with a goal off the foot of sophomore Rainee Brito, her first of the young season.

The Eagles tied up the match 1-1 in the second half. Freshman Dani Correa got her first goal of her high school career, giving the Dawgs a hard fought win over the Eagles.

The Bulldogs record now stands at 1-0 in League and 3-4-1 overall. The Bulldogs will host archrival Moapa Valley on Monday, Sept. 24, at the Mesquite Sports and Events Center. The Pirates lost their opener to a strong Sunrise Mountain team 3-1.

Bulldog boy soccer lose late to Eagles

The Virgin Valley boys’ soccer team went head to head with a quick Boulder City team Monday, Sept. 17, at the Mesquite Sports Complex before giving up three goals to lose 4-1.

The Eagles struck goal first at the 23 minute mark of the first period. The Bulldogs highlight came at the 63 minute mark as Pablo Aguilar struck goal tying up the match. It was the Bulldogs first goal of 2018 after going three games without a goal.

The Bulldogs record fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in 3A League play. The Dawgs will travel to Moapa Valley on Monday, Sept. 24, for their next league matchup.
