Ashten Roman received his Eagle Scout Award

Ashten Roman received his Eagle Scout Award at a court of honor.  He is a member of Troop 2998 sponsored by the Mesquite 7th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His Eagle Project was organizing a fundraiser to purchase plants and then planting the landscaping at the Calvary Chapel. Roman is a freshman at Virgin Valley High School where he is a member of the football, basketball and baseball teams. He is the son of Fred and Jamie Roman.

Ryan Toone, his scoutmaster, said, “Ashten is a great example to all the members of his troop.  He wears his uniform and is always willing to do service. He did an excellent job of beautifying the area around the church. The Eagle Award may seem like the end of the trail, but it is only the beginning of doing your duty to God and your country.  I know you will continue to live the scout law, and I can see you doing awesome things in your life. I ask you to be ready to serve and use your skills and talents to help others and as you do, I promise that it will bring happiness to your life.”

Red, Ashten’s father, gave him the Eagle Charge saying, “I challenge you to constantly look for ways to serve others.  Reaffirm your allegiance to the God given constitution that made America great. Do you best to help your fellow scouts climbing the Trail to Eagle. I challenge you to make your training, rank and influence count strongly for better citizenship in your family, school and community; and to this I ask you to pledge your sacred honor.”

Roman gave his mentor pin to his friend and fellow scout, Bridger Toone for helping him along the trail to Eagle Scout. Bridger was his Eagle Escort. Brian Haviland, District Chairman of the Virgin River Valley presented Ashten with a pocket knife engraved with the words “Eagle Scout.”
