Community Calendar Aug. 30-Sept. 5, 2018

Have you just gotten a smart phone that you may not feel smart enough to use? The Mesquite Library is ready to give you all the basics you’ll need to master your phone. The Cell Phone Basics Class is this morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m.; don’t miss this opportunity to discover all the things your smart phone can do for you.

Perhaps you want to get on the social media bandwagon but don’t know how. Never fear, the Mesquite Library also has a Facebook Basics Class that will get you started on your merry way. Discover or find old friends and acquaintances, keep in touch with siblings, kids or grandkids or put the word out about an event. With the help of the Mesquite Library, the sky’s the limit on what you can do to maximize your social media use; once you got the basics, the rest is a breeze.

The Nevada Coalition on Suicide Prevention (NCSP) is connecting people and communities to help and hope. The vision of the NCSP ensures all Nevadans feel hopeful and are connected to the resources they need.  In so doing, the coalition hopes that all communities will be free from suicide. The NCSP will be a the Mesquite Library on Friday, Aug. 31 from 12:30 -3 p.m. You can take that time to sign up as a volunteer to help raise awareness in your community or gather valuable resource information. Suicide prevention is everyone’s business.

The Mesquite Interagency Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month. Meetings are meant to provide a forum for Mesquite service providers, school and government entities to gather for the purpose of sharing information about services available and discussion of community needs for working together to ensure fair and impartial availability and provision of services to meet those needs.

Have a happy Labor Day weekend and remember all city offices and the Mesquite Library are closed on the holiday.

Remember to send in those event notices, the summer is coming to an end and things are going to be happening that you’ll want folks to know about. Send them to terin.bbm@gmail.com so you can everyone know what’s happening with your group or club.
