It’ll be music to your eyes as you step through the doors of the Mesquite Fine Arts Center this month. Many of the artists have given the community a diverse display of music, not the kind you can hear but the kind you can see or something like that and Mesquite Gaming is sponsoring it through the month of June.

Art can be interpreted in too many ways to count and in this month’s “Music to My Eyes” exhibit, the artists have given you everything from what may produce music to who may produce it and even what the sound vibrations of music might look like.

It’s an exhibit the music buffs won’t want to miss, especially if you like music themed art; there’s plenty to choose from and it’s all for sale.

Are you a steadfast fan of the rock-n-roll classics? You might want to get there fast to snatch up Jim Morrison of the Doors on a door; you can hang that one in a doorway if you don’t have enough wall space. Artist Floyd Johnson thinks far outside the box when it comes to the possibility that someone might not have the space to put his art; it’s certainly worth displaying.

If you have the wall space, you might want to check out the acrylic painting that he and Kathleen Ludwig collaborated on titled “Legends.”

If it’s smaller spaces you’re looking to fill, there are plenty of pieces to choose from. From Jean Battaglia’s 3D Paper Tole, “Amazing Grace” to Lisa Holladay’s Watercolor, “Wake up Call” you’ll find something brings music to your eyes. You might even like Walt Adler’s “Heavy Metal” Enhanced Digital Photography piece that will make you think of what heavy metal music vibrations might look like.

You can visit the gallery Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and see for yourself what brings music to the eyes of the artists.

You might want to wait until the artist’s reception which will be held on June 21 from 4-6 p.m. at the Gallery located at 15 W. Mesquite Blvd. but you’ll risk losing out on that piece that might sing to your soul; they’re selling fast.

This may be a little ahead of the game but put on your thinking and chef’s hat along with your Beret because the next fundraiser for the Virgin Valley Artists Association will have you wearing them all at the same time when the project involves edible art.

That’s the themed fundraiser they’re planning for February and you’ve got a heads up on the theme. Edible art can be anything from watercolor paints made with food coloring to sculpted food and everything in between; you’re limited only by your imagination and what the grocery store has to offer.

For more information on this and future exhibits, contact the gallery at 702-346-1338. If it’s the edible art you’re looking for information about, ask for Kathleen Birkholz; she’ll be excited to talk to you about it.
