On May 12 at approximately 4 p.m., a Mesquite Police Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Hafen Ln and Mesquite Blvd.  The officer observed evidence the driver was possibly impaired and began investigating further.  The driver was subsequently taken into custody due to his impairment.  The passenger in the vehicle was found to have an active warrant for his arrest and was also taken into custody.  Once both occupants were in custody, officers began an inventory of the vehicle and found over 5 pounds of marijuana, cocaine, and a stolen .40 caliber handgun.  Mesquite Detectives then secured a search warrant to conduct a more thorough search of the vehicle which yielded further drug paraphernalia items.
