The Virgin Valley High School girls basketball season came to a screeching halt Friday afternoon, Feb. 24, at Reno High School gymnasium.

The Bulldogs were matched in the semifinals of the 3A Nevada State Championship Tournament with the returning three time State Champs the Greenwave from Churchill County.

The Dawgs could not match up with the Greenwave and fell by a score of 52-19.

Churchill led 21-11at the break as the Dawgs were still in contention but got blown out in the third period by a 22-1 run by the Greenwave.

The Dawgs had no answer for the Otuafi sisters, Leilani and Margaret, who scored 18 and 12 points respectively.

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Nathalie Lagamayo with 8 points. Lagamayo meanwhile was named to the 3A Sunrise Conference first team and 3A All-Southern League second team.
