Police Blotter Jan. 14-20, 2018

 

Many calls that the Police Department receives are not always included in the blotter, as they are under investigation or a synopsis is not received. To show the amount of work our PD does do, we are including a weekly roster of stats. This week, there were 141 total incidents in the blotter:

Jan. 14:

Suspicious person: Officer responded to a residence reference a male attempting to gain entry into the residence.  Upon arrival, the male was located and placed under arrest for breach of peace.

Traffic stop: Officer contacted a motorist for speed. Driver had a suspended D/L and no NV registration.

Lost property: Officer was dispatched to a call requiring for a phone call only on lost property. The Officer called the reporting person who stated they left property in Mesquite. The items could not be located at this time.

Jan. 15:

Suspicious person: A female adult wanted to file a report of harassment that occurred out of state. Officers informed the female she will have to file the report with the police department in her jurisdiction were the harassment took place.

Graffiti: Officer took a report of graffiti at a local care facility.

Panhandling: Officers issued an adult male a citation for panhandling at a N. Sandhill Blvd. business.

Traffic Stop: Conducted a traffic stop for Speed. Driver’s license were suspended from out of state.

Jan 16:

Controlled substance problem: Officer responded to a report of Panhandling. After further investigation subject was charged with drug possession.

Property damage, non-vandalism: Officers responded to a Green Springs Sr. apartment complex for graffiti. Officers took photos and completed a report.

Truancy: Mesquite Police Officer responded to a Valley View Dr. school reference a truant student.

Person on foot: An officer observed a male adult jaywalk across a public street. The male was arrested for having drug paraphernalia.

Traffic stop: Officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested for an active warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court.

Lost property: An officer completed a report of lost property.

Jan. 17:

Theft: Officer responded to an E. Pioneer Blvd. casino for a report of a theft of a jacket. Report was taken.

Theft: Officer went to a W. Pioneer Blvd. business regarding theft by two adult females. A written statement was gathered and the investigation is ongoing.

Hit & run: An officer responded to a casino parking lot reference a hit and run accident that occurred earlier in the day.  The officer was unable to determine a suspect and was unable to locate any witnesses to the incident.

Jan. 18:

Suspicious person: Officer responded to the police department for a citizen reporting suspicious activity. Officer spoke to the citizen and investigation is ongoing.

Graffiti: Officers observed graffiti on private property.

Controlled substance problem: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. The adult male driver and adult female passenger were in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Both occupants were arrested for trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking heroin, and drug paraphernalia.

Jan. 19:

Abuse/Neglect: Officers responded to a Valley View Dr. school on a report of child neglect.

DUI: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. The adult male driver failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.

Jan. 20:

Traffic stop: An officer conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation. Two adult males were issued citations for open container of alcohol, adult minor consumption of alcohol, and traffic violations.

Theft: Officers were dispatched to a W. Mesquite Blvd. business in reference to a theft. The investigation is ongoing.

Traffic accident W/O injury: Officers responded to an accident, no injuries were reported. A local tow company responded and cleared the roadway.

Suspicious person: A male subject was taken to the hospital on a legal 2000, mentally ill person.
