Mesquite Showgirls mix Denim & Diamonds

When it comes to giving help to service groups and businesses in Mesquite, there’s no one other group more eager to do so than the Mesquite Showgirls.

The idea for the showgirls came in 2010 and they immediately began working on the structure to create a group for women who were interested in getting involved in community events without having a lot of rehearsals or time commitments. The charter was granted in 2011.

The group currently has 12 showgirls, seven showguys, two foster donkeys and a group of committed volunteers who help support the group’s mission.

Since 2011, the showgirls have appeared at 265 functions along with six “road” appearances and now they’re asking for your help.

Showgirl participation at events is tailored to the needs of the requesting organization from being greeters, to registration, ticket and raffle support.  Showgirls also appear at ribbon cuttings, parades, parties and photo events.

Their time is available to all and so is their support but this time they need a little help from their friends.

The showgirls are holding a fundraiser on Valentine’s Day for all you lovebirds who want to get gussied up in some “Denim & Diamonds.” The theme is meant to show how fun western attire can come together with ladies dressed to the nines in a fun and elegant evening out with your sweetheart.

The dance will be held at the Rising Star Sports Ranch beginning at 6 p.m.

This is the showgirls’ first fundraising event of their time and they’re preparing for an elegant evening, celebrating love with an elegant buffet, champagne and dancing.

That’s right; you can burn those dinner calories by rocking out on the dance floor with Dealt-a-Straight Band. Ask nicely and they may take a request or two so you can cuddle up close to your Valentine and get carried away in the rhythm of a slow song.

As if dinner and dining weren’t enough, there’s also going to be a plethora of raffle items up for grabs such as a beaded necklace made by local artist Karron Knight, a metal sculpture, a portrait package with a certificate for matting/framing, a weekend get-a-way package and many more wonderful items that are perfect for you and your sweetheart.

The cost of the dinner is $70 per person. Reservations can be made now by contacting showgirl Joni Robinson at 702-346-8394.
