School may be out for kids in Nevada, but the need for healthy meals never ends. More than 200,000 students in Clark County are eligible for free and reduced lunch, making up 62 percent of the student population.

Can you help spread the word about the availability of free, healthy meals this summer for kids and teens in rural Clark County? The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Summer Food Service program is open to children and teens all summer long, no questions asked. Sites throughout the state offer free meals daily for kids with no enrollment required. The Summer Food Service and Seamless Summer Option programs served 879,582 meals at 366 sites across Nevada in 2016 and plan to serve at least that many meals in 2017.

I have included a list below of summer meal sites in Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley. Parents and kids can also find a meal site near them by texting “FOOD” to 877-877, visiting freesummerfood.org, or calling 1-866-348-6479. Meal sites:
