On June 16, the Holiday Inn Express held its official grand opening for its new pool. The project of building the new pool began early in the year and came to fruition in four short months; just in time for the heat wave.

Andrew Markisich and daughter Elena, from Salt Lake City, UT were traveling home from California and decided to stop in Mesquite for the night. Their timing was perfect and they both had the opportunity to enjoy the pool and especially the splash pad area where Elena was thrilled and entertained by the bursts of water coming from the ground. During the grand opening, residents were invited to spend some time lounging in the pool, listening to music provided by “Festival of Sounds” out of St. George, Utah, and enjoying some appetizing hors d’oeuvres. They also had some great give-a-ways throughout the night for those who came to the party.

Scott Jackson, General Manager, said the wait for the completion of the pool wasn’t bad, “Unless you were in the middle of it,” but the pool isn’t the last of what’s on the agenda for improvements. Jackson wants to add some lawn games and has a very nice grassy area designated for the plan. He also wants to add an outdoor screen that will enable the showing of outdoor, poolside movies for their guests.

The pool meets all ADA compliant regulations and has lifts for the elderly and handicapped. There is an outdoor fire pit and two grills in the barbecue area that will be available to all guests on a first come, first served basis. There is also a splash pad area for kids of all ages to enjoy.
