Virgin Valley High School’s football players have been busy this summer.
Recently, members of the VVHS team traveled to Northern Utah to participate in a day camp at Weber State University in Ogden.
Later on, several Bulldogs were involved in 7-on-7 competitions and Big Man camp hosted by Brigham Young University in Provo.
VVHS linemen Taua Fiso, Jeremy Perkins, Cole Stenberg and Riley Waite attended the Big Man camp and learned from members of the BYU coaching staff.
Coach Yori Ludvigson and his staff will take the Bulldogs to the annual Millard High School team camp in Fillmore, Utah, on July 17-21. Virgin Valley, Moapa Valley and Sunrise Mountain are the only Nevada schools that will have players participating. Utah schools that will be at camp are host Millard, Beaver, Carbon of Price, Emery County of Castle Dale and South Summit of Kamas.
Summer football workouts are held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the VVHS football field. The weight room is open on Thursday and Fridays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for optional lifting.
The team will officially gear up for the upcoming 2017 season with a mandatory heat acclamation period Aug. 2-5. After three days in helmets, the players will be allowed to pad up on Aug. 10.
The first day of school in the Clark County School District will be Aug. 14.
The Bulldogs are coming off a successful campaign from a year ago going 9-2 overall and capturing the Sunrise League championship and reaching the second round of the 3A South regional playoffs.
Virgin Valley will open its season at home on Aug. 25 against Canyon View of Cedar City, Utah, at 7 p.m.
