Local fire departments combined their efforts once again on June 8 as they received calls of a structure fire on the corner of South Tobler and Riverside Road in Bunkerville at about 7:22 p.m. The property, which appears to be an older construction site, was set off the road and back about 300 feet. The lone structure on the site, what is being suspected to be a construction office trailer, was engulfed in flames as crews arrived and was quickly extinguished by 7:57 p.m.
According to Larry Haydu, Clark County Fire Assistant Fire Chief, crews from Mesquite, Beaver Dam, Logandale and Moapa were also requested for backup.
The fire was contained to the single wide mobile home-like building, preventing the spread to nearby brush. With the winds blowing strong, the fire had the potential to spread quickly had crews not responded as fast as they did. No injuries were reported.
Haydu confirmed that the cause of the fire is under investigation, and it is unknown at this time if this incident is related to the confirmed six arsons and rumored others in the past three months.
Nevada Highway Patrol and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department also responded to the scene to talk with witnesses and residents.
