The Virgin Valley coed swimming and diving team left their mark at the 3A state meet Saturday at the Carson Recreation Center in Carson City.

The Lady Bulldogs totaled 44.50 points to finish third edging out Adelson School of Las Vegas, which had 42. Boulder City ran away with the team title piling up 214.50 points. Truckee was a distant second with 75.

For the boys, the Bulldogs and Lowry of Winnemucca tied for 10th place with 20 points each. Boulder City finished first with 132 points followed by Truckee (99) and Chaparral (47).

The girls 4×200 medley and 4×400 freestyle relay teams placed fourth and the 4×200 team was fifth. The relay teams consisted of Sydney Ludvigson, Kennedi Ludvigson, Kallie Graves and Taylor Waite.

The foursome swam a 2:08.60 in the 4×200 medley, a 4:30.78 in the 4×400 freestyle and a 1:57.27 in the 4×200 freestyle.

“That’s the first time we’ve ever medaled at the state meet in swimming for the girls,” VVHS head coach Jan White said of the two fourth-place finishes in the relays.

Dylan Bryant was fourth in the 1-meter diving with 217.05 points with teammates Shandi Stiner sixth (165.10) and Elizabeth DeLeon seventh (160.45).

Kallie Graves finished fifth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:09.77 and Taylor Waite placed sixth in the 50 freestyle in a time of 28.04.

David Vogel led the boys by placing second in the 1-meter diving competition with 206.85 points with teammate Oscar Colmenero third at 180.45.

The boys 4×200 freestyle relay team of Keaton Ogden, Keith Rushton, Jared Memmott and Andrew Memmott finished sixth with a time of 1:44.56.

Andrew Memmott was eighth in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.69.
