The Mesquite Chamber of Commerce joined with the City of Mesquite officials and community members to welcome a new cemetery, which has opened phase one of three. Upon completion, the cemetery will cover over 18 acres. Phase one has cost the city $1,283,000. “It’s not cheap to build,” said Mayor Al Litman, who spoke prior to the ribbon cutting.

Located at 1362 Hardy Way, the new cemetery has 814 cremation inurnments and 1339 lawn burials. It will also feature a new veterans section with both options available. Litman also stated that he will be working on a possible tribute project with the Mesquite Veterans Center in the near future.

TradeWest Construction began their work in November 2016 and finished in April 2017.

Litman thanked TradeWest,  Kokopelli Landscaping, EDA Land Planning and Forsgren Associates for all of their work to complete this project.
