The Virgin Valley High track teams hosted Boulder City and Sunrise Mountain High Schools in a tri-meet Thursday afternoon, March 30, in the Dawg Pound. High winds canceled many events during the meet. The Bulldog boys scored 30 points to finish second behind Sunrise Mountain’s 40 points, but ahead of Boulder City’s 12 points.

The Virgin Valley girls won their meet with 26 points, followed by Sunrise Mountain with 18 points and Boulder City with 13 points.

Leading the way for the boys with first-place finishes were Devin Cox in the 110 meter high hurdles, Reid Jensen in the discus and Jaden Dalton in the shot. Jensen added a second in the shot and Justin Danh finished second in the 100 meter dash. The Bulldog 4×200 and 4×800 relay teams finished second in their events.

The Bulldog girls were led by Abbie Barnum with wins in the 100 meter dash and 100 meter hurdles. The Bulldog 4×200 relay team garnered the only other first-place finish. Running for the Dawgs were Emily Hafner, Jaylee Whipple, Jasmine Mangasar and Hailee Thornley. Bernice Fiso placed second in the discus and Emma Barnum added a second in the 100 meter high hurdles. Emily Teerlink added a third in the 100 meter dash and a fourth in the long jump. The Bulldogs travel to Sunrise Mountain April 5 for their next meet.
