LOTS OF MMGA MAGIC

Tuesday was a day of many positive vibes for MMGA players at Falcon Ridge. Let’s start with Jim Dick who just a couple weeks ago shot the best 18 holes of his life and today he topped that with his first hole in one.  He used a seven iron on the par three 14th landing some 15 feet short of the cup and rolling straight ahead and dropping in for that coveted golf award.  Paul LeVan shot a one under par 34 on the front. Dan Trower played his best round in years shooting a great 39 on the front and 47 on the back for 86 and was rewarded first place low net at 66. LeVan round was a 78 and it netted 67for second low net. Hal Rundle parred the first handicap hole to beat Tom Durenberger for third low net.   Besides the hole in one Dick had two birdies and netted a lone 69 for fifth low net.  Ben Bishop shot 88 and got 6th low net with a 70 as he broke the tie with Fred Emmons also at 70.  The team of Tim Miller, Bill Irace and Paul LeVan had the most threes recorded at 13.  The group of Vandeweghe, Chambers, Dick and Naccarato had the overall best scores with 29 fours, 5birdies and that hole in one.  Gary Denhalter had the other shot of the day on the par four 15.  His second shot was so long and left of the green that it was over the cart path in the 16th fairway where he could not see the green or pin.  He chipped it up over the hill to the top ledge and it rolled down to the lower cup to two feet where he made a great par four.

STANGER BEATS YEH BY ONE

Rod Stanger got back some mojo at the Palms on Thurs edging out Yeh by one shot for medalist honors.  Yeh was so focused on beating fellow player Joe-Joe Smith that he lost tract of how another of his playing partners, Rod Stanger was playing.  This may have had something to do with that as Yeh led by three shots after the front side 38 to 41.  And despite two birdies on the back nine by Yeh, he shot 42 as Stanger quietly shot an even par 36 for his 77.  Bubba Petrick almost won low gross as he eagled the par four second hole and at that point after playing nine holes was one under.  He went on to shoot six over on his last nine holes for a nice 78 but it was one of those rounds “that could have been”.  Hal Rundle shot 82 and netted a 68 along with Dan Trower’s round of  86 but Rundle’s bogey earned him first place low net.  Greg Sullivan’s 80 left him with a net 70 and all alone in third place.  Petrick’s round netted him a tie with Glen Van Tussenbrooke at net 71 and Petrick won it with a bogey on the first handicap hole.  There was a three way tie at net 72 which Bill Irace won with his par on number 4 while Dick Swayne got the 7th spot with a bogey leaving Joe Smith hoping for next time.  Petrick had the shot of the day on the par four second hole.  From 100yds out he hit the flag on the fly on his second shot and the ball dropped straight down in to the jar for a great eagle two.
