The Virgin Valley Little League kicked off its fifth season Monday afternoon, March 27, at Old Mill fields. A large crowd of parents, grandparents, siblings and baseball enthusiasts watched the opening day ceremonies before “play ball” was called by the umpires.

League President Dan Wright officiated for the event. Wright introduced the Veterans Honor Guard and bagpiper Dennis Hangey before council man Geno Withhelder led the crowd in the ‘Pledge of Allegiance’ and fellow council man Brian Wursten sang our National Anthem.

Invocations were then given by Deacon Gary Jacobs of La Virgen De Guadalupe Catholic Church and David J. Anderson, LDS Stake President. Wright introduced league board members before calling out the opening day teams to the field for the first game of the season.
