Virgin Valley’s girls swam their way to victory against Cheyenne, but the boys’ were not as fortunate in a dual meet Wednesday, April 5, at the Adelson School natatorium in Las Vegas.

The Lady Bulldogs captured first place in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays and finished second in the 400 freestyle relay. VVHS also had two individual winners.

On the boys’ side, Andrew Memmott recorded two victories in individual races while the Bulldogs were second in both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

“Our girls killed it,” coach Jan White said. “The boys are still struggling with DQs, but they’ve come a long way this year.”

The girls team of Sydney Ludvigson, Kennedi Ludvigson, Kallie Graves and Taylor Waite posted a time of 2:29.35 in winning the 200 medley relay while the squad of Graves, Aileen Quinones, Sydney Ludvigson and Waite won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:18.37. The 400 freestyle relay team of Honney Joseph, Neecie Thompson, Margarita Cruz and Heidi Quinones placed second with a time of 7:03.53.

Watie captured the 50 freestyle in a time of 32.37 with teammate Sydney Ludvigson second at 34.85. Waite also placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:36.96 while Ludvigson was second in the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:26.63. Kennedi Lugvigson placed second in the 200 freestyle at 2:56.44.

Graves took first place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:21.02.

Memmott had a big day for the boys winning both the 50 and 100 free. Memmott posted a time of 28.40 in the 50 and 1:03.47 in the 100. Keaton Ogden placed second in the 200 free with a time of 2:39.75.
