The Virgin Valley Little League held their annual skills day on Saturday March 4, to determine levels of abilities in all age brackets for both boys and girls. The morning began with VVLL staff and volunteers registering or checking in area youth. After registration the participants in three age brackets (7-10), (11-12) and (13-15) were put through various ball field scenarios while coaches looked on. Virgin Valley High School baseball and softball players assisted the youth as they went through various skills. The participant’s strength in throwing, catching, base-stealing, hitting and pitching were evaluated by the coaches.

The objectives of skills day is to place children evenly throughout the league to hasten equality within the teams. The coaches and VVLL board members will hold a league draft on Monday and Tuesday March 6 and 7 to fill out team rosters. League play will begin on March 27.
