A tasty, soft-serve ice cream cone is refreshing on a warm, sunny day. For 77 years, you’ve been able to head on down to your local Dairy Queen and grab a tasty cool treat.

Mesquite residents have also been privy to this pleasure. The DQ at 290 Sandhill Blvd. seemed to satisfy most resident’s need for the delectable desert and since everything in Mesquite is only seven minutes from anything, it wasn’t far out of the way.

Now residents and visitors alike can enjoy the pleasures of the frosty soft serve in two locations. The Dairy Queen and Grill opens this week in a new location at 70 Falcon Ridge Parkway. and they’re offering a whole lot more than just ice cream.

With a menu loaded to the hilt with items such as appetizers, salads, sandwiches and soft serve, you can have your whole meal plus dessert in store and even take home some boxed treats or an ice cream cake for later.

The new DQ is in the space previously occupied by Popeye’s Chicken, which closed about a year ago on March 11. At press time the MLN wasn’t able to contact the store’s owner but visited the store and discovered a friendly and busy staff of employees in training, a spotless and very comfortable seating area and sparkling counters, machines and smiles in place and ready to “soft” serve the public.
