Occasionally, storms and other types of major events cause power outages in our communities. We want you and your family to stay safe and informed in the event of a power outage. Sometimes, telephone lines can become overloaded or may even be unavailable during a large power outage. Your lights might be out and you may not be able to reach us by telephone, but don’t stay in the dark. If a widespread power outage occurs, please visit our website at www.opd5.com and click on the power outage button, our communications team will post updates regularly and will keep you informed until our crew has repaired the problem and restored power to everyone. Please remember, in the event of a power outage, do not report it via social media, we can’t guarantee the delivery of messages received via social media to the right personnel in a timely manner.

IF YOU LOSE POWER:

  1. Check to see if others in your area have lost power. If others have lights and you don’t, check your home’s panel box. A blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker could be at fault.
  2. If you’ve determined that the source of the interruption is outside your home, call us once. Keep the outage numbers near your phone so you can find them quickly: Overton (702) 397-2512 Mesquite (702) 346-5710.
  3. During an outage the District’s priorities are: to restore the power in a safe and timely manner, to provide the public with outage feedback and estimated times of restoration, and to contact “Priority Service Customers”. A “Priority Service Customer” is any customer who has made a written request to the District to receive direct communication during an outage due to a medical condition. If you do have medical conditions, such as the need of oxygen, please contact us immediately to insure your name and telephone number are included on the Priority Service Customer contact list.
