Virgin Valley High School junior quarterback Kallie Graves has been named to the NIAA All-State second team for flag football.

The All-State team combined both 4-A and 3-A schools from the state of Nevada and was released Tuesday evening.

Graves had an outstanding season accounting for 3,955 yards of total offense and 58 touchdowns while helping guide head coach Joey Bowler’s Lady Bulldogs to a runner-up finish in the inaugural 3-A state championship contest.

The junior signal caller threw for 2,925 yards and 38 touchdowns while rushing for 1,030 yards and 20 scores.

Junior receiver Madison Cheney was the only other Virgin Valley player recognized earning a spot as an honorable mention pick.

Virgin Valley finished 18-4 overall and went 9-1 in league play to capture the Sunrise Conference title.

The Lady Bulldogs rolled past Desert Pines, 47-18, in a quarterfinal contest with Graves throwing four TD passes and running for two more. She threw two touchdown passes and ran for a TD in a 31-7 semifinal victory over Del Sol Academy.

Virgin Valley fell 7-0 to Cheyenne of North Las Vegas in the state title game Feb. 22 at Cimarron-Memorial High School in Las Vegas. It was the first time the Lady Bulldogs had been shutout in two years.

Cheyenne running back Angela Hammond was named 3-A Player of the Year for helping lead the Lady Shields to the 3-A state title. The senior rushed for 2,687 yards and scored 22 touchdowns.
