The VVHS men’s track team scored 122-5 points to defeat Chaparral H S (77.5 points) and Western H S (53 points) Wednesday March 22 in a tri-meet in the Dawg Pound. The Bulldogs dominated the weights, mid-distance runs and short relays. The Bulldogs got on the board early with Devin Cox winning the 110 high hurdles by three seconds over his nearest competition. Bulldog weight team members Reid Jensen and Jaden Dalton traded wins, with Jensen taking the discus and Dalton the shot. Dalton was second in the discus and Jensen second in the shot. Braden Bingham won the high jump and Brogan Bingham took the pole vault. Bulldog mid-distance runners Victor Colmenero and Jordy Saldana won the 800 and 1600 meter runs respectively. Saldana placed second in the 800 meters to Colmenero. The Bulldog 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay teams won after Chaparral was disqualified in both events. Second place winners for the Dawgs were Isaac Martinez in the 300 meter hurdles and David Carson in the high jump. The Bulldogs will host Sunrise Mountain H S on March 30 with field events beginning at 3:30pm.
