5.6 Acres burned between I-15 southbound and Pioneer Boulevard in Mesquite.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Mesquite Fire Rescue was called out to a brush fire along I-15 Southbound.  Large flames were being pushed to the north east towards Pioneer Boulevard at the intersection of Horizon Boulevard.

The fire also traveled slowly up a small hill to the west.  Crews were divided into two divisions working along I-15 southbound and Pioneer Boulevard.

Littlefield Beaver Dam Fire Department assisted Mesquite Fire with crews and apparatus.  Mesquite Police Department assisted by controlling traffic on Pioneer Boulevard and on I-15. The fire was started by a trailer that lost a tire and began to throw sparks.

The occupants of that vehicle attempted to put out the fire while calling 911. The fire was quickly controlled and contained to that area by the Fire departments. Crews worked over two hours before the fire was completely extinguished.
