Mesquite Police safely take barricaded suspect into custody

On Feb. 25, at approximately 6 p.m., Mesquite Police received information about a domestic problem at a residence on Sandbar St. Upon arriving on scene, officers learned that a male suspect, who was inside the residence, was making threats to harm others, and he was possibly in possession of a firearm. Officers were able to communicate with the suspect, and after approximately three hours of negotiating, the suspect voluntary came outside the residence and was safely taken into custody by awaiting officers.

Criminal charges on the suspect are pending. All residents in the area are safe and have returned to their homes. Further details on this incident and more information on the suspect will be released by the Mesquite Police Department, once the investigation is completed.
