The Salvation Army kicked off their kettle collections on Monday, Nov. 21 at a brand-new location, Ace Hardware.

Blair and Jacqueline Adams were the first bell ringers of the 2016 season. Even though the weather was dreary and rain threatened to fall on them all day these two dedicated volunteers weren’t about to miss their call of duty for the 2016 Kettle Kick-Off.

Jacqueline has been ringing the bell in Mesquite every Monday morning for the past 12 years and hubby Blair has joined her for the past four.

They were joined for the day by Santa and Mrs. Claus who were handing out candy canes to all who donated.

At this time Ace Hardware, Lee’s Liquors, Smith’s and Wal-Mart are the scheduled locations for the Red Kettles with an additional location pending.

Captain Lisa Smith, who heads the Mesquite Salvation Army office, is still seeking bell ringers for the season. The kettle calls will continue through Dec. 24. For more information on how you can help with the kettle, call The Salvation Army at 702-345-5116.
