The Virgin Valley High School girls volleyball team easily defeated Del Sol, 3-0, Wednesday evening, Oct. 5, in the Dawg House. Leading the way for the Dawgs were Calee Clem with 18 assists. Bernice Fiso added 10 kills and teammate Emma Barnum had 6 kills 4 aces and 4 digs for the Dawgs.
The Dawgs came out quickly with strong play at the net winning easily 25-13 in the first set. Fiso, Barnum and Brianna Todd managed early kills giving the Dawgs a 7-2 advantage. The Dawgs would keep the pressure on getting to 23 points on a huge kill by Fiso followed by a Barnum dink to finish off the Dragons.
The Dawgs jumped out early in the second set behind Hallie Walker’s serving and two kills by Fiso. Barnum had two blocks for the Bulldog defense during the 25-8 rout.
The Dawgs would not falter in the third and final set winning easily 25-12 as the Bulldog coach emptied her bench. Fiso and Dylan Bryant led the Dawgs with three and two kills respectively. Barnum added seven service points along with two aces.
The Bulldogs league record went to 3-2 with three matches coming up: hosting Boulder City on Oct.13, at Chaparral on Oct. 18 and hosting Moapa Valley on Oct.20. Both Boulder City and Moapa Valley are ahead of the Dawgs in league standings.
