healthfairposterMesquite Gaming will hold its first Health and Wellness Fair on Friday, Sept. 16 in the CasaBlanca Convention Center to increase the visibility of health and wellness resources in the Mesquite community. All employees, their families and the public are welcome to attend.

“In addition to raising public awareness, employees are busy and can’t always get to a doctor or facility to make a blood donation or get a mammogram, as an example. They have to take time off from work. So we thought we’d bring some of these services to them and the community and also educate everyone on what local services are available. Many people think that a spa treatment is a beauty luxury; they don’t think of this type of service as a health service, but it is. I learned that the same can be true for the physical therapy facilities,” said Paula Farrell, Director, Benefits & Workers Compensation for Mesquite Gaming.

“We picked September because it’s the beginning of flu season for flu shots. We also know that the children are going back to school. We wanted employees and their families to know what services our benefit plans offer in preparing for the kids going back to school. We certainly want the Fair to be well received by both employees, their families and the public. We have had just a remarkable response from the community service vendors and we hope to make it even bigger next year,” said Farrell.

Organizations that are participating are: Anthem, Premier Access, MES Vision, Aflac, Fidelity Investments, Mesa View Quick Care, Mesa View Physical Therapy, Life Saving Images (mammograms), Falcon Ridge Dental, Walmart Vision, Mesquite Behavioral Health, Mesquite Fitness, Reina’s Zumba, Red Cross, Walgreens, Mesquite Gaming’s food, spa and benefits departments.

Visitors will be able to donate blood, get their blood typed, have a mammogram (by appointment), receive flu shots or take advantage of many other health screening/maintenance procedures.

You will need to bring your Anthem BlueCross medical card or other insurance, Medicare or Medicaid card if you want a flu shot or to sign up for a mammogram. You may be eligible for a $100 wellness benefit.
