Lady Dawgs fall to Eagles 3-0 in Sunrise League opener

The Virgin Valley High School volleyball squad had no answer for the Eagles Maggie Roe as the Boulder City High School star dismantled the Dawgs frontline with 19 kills leading the Eagles to a 3-0 defeat of the host Bulldogs Tuesday evening in the Dawg House.

The Eagles won the first match 25-15 behind strong service. The teams traded points early in the match before the Eagles pulled away to win easily.

The Bulldogs came out more aggressively in the second game behind Emma Barnum and Bernice Fiso strong play at the net. The Dawgs led 17-13 before the Eagles regrouped, outscoring the Dawgs 12-4 down the stretch. The Eagles Roe dominated the net during the run.

The third set was all Eagles as they led from start to finish on their way to a 25-18 victory. The Bulldogs seemed lethargic most of the game having just come off nine games over the weekend. The Dawgs had only 23 kills for the games led by Fiso with seven. The Bulldogs only registered seven aces and two blocks total.The Dawgs host Chaparral on Thursday Sept. 22 in their next Sunrise League game.
