After falling short in pre-season, Virgin Valley girls soccer coach Bob Snell has his troops in high gear for the beginning of league play. The Dawgs took it to Chaparral on Friday, Sept. 23 7-0 and Moapa Valley on Monday, Sept. 26 4-1. The Dawgs 3-A Sunrise League record now stands at 3-0. Leading the way for the Bulldogs in the two wins were Abbie Barnum and freshman Ally Wright. Barnum had three goals in the win over Chaparral and Wright added two.

Barnum continued her outstanding play with two more goals against the Pirates and Wright added one in the win. Bulldog mid-fielder Kallie Graves had huge games also for the Dawgs with an amazing five assists in the Chaparral game plus adding one goal in each of the matches. Barnum has 17 goals for the season and Graves has been on 9 assists.

 

Girls Volleyball

The Bulldog girls volleyball team went 1-1 in their last two matches. The Dawgs defeated Chaparral 3-0 on Thursday, Sept. 22 and were blown out at Moapa Valley 3-0 on Monday, Sept. 26. The Bulldogs easily defeated the Cowboys in three sets 25-12, 25-11 and 25-17. Leading the Dawgs were Bernice Fiso with 7 kills and Jessica Barnum with 7 aces.

Despite the easy win, the Bulldogs play at the net seemed to be in a funk. They fell to the Pirates 25-14, 25-13 before giving the Pirates a game in the third set but ultimately losing 25-23. Fiso managed 6 kills for the three sets but the Dawgs only had three service aces for the games. The Dawgs league record stands at 1-2 and 14-11 overall.
