The annual Rotary Club of Mesquite Ball Drop was particularly special this year as the winner, Carol Vincent found out she had won $1,000 on the day she turned 84.  The Sun City resident bought six tickets from her financial advisor Jeff Bird, who at the ceremony giving Vincent the check assured everyone that “I can’t promise this kind of return.”

The Rotary Club raised over $9,000 selling tickets to the Ball Drop this year.  In addition to the cash prize, several local businesses donated products and golf games for the event.  In all 10 people won prizes, including a new dishwasher from Sears, free golf games from Wolf Creek Golf Club and Conestoga Golf Club, six months of free internet from Reliance and free rooms from Best Western and Holiday Inn.  Additional prizes were donated by Temple Homes, Shereen’s Hair and Nails, Bulldog Pest Control, Helping Hands Housekeepers, Gold Butte Window Washing, Guillen Heating, Cooling and Refrigeration, Virgin Valley Dental, TJ Mats and Danielle’s Chocolates.

Rotary Assistant Governor Jake Noll said that the funds raised are used for many community projects such as the landscaping at Beaver Dam High Schools, the Virgin Valley Food Bank and Rotary scholarships.
