The Salvation Army Announces Mesquite Director

The Salvation Army serving Southern Nevada has announced the permanent appointment of Captain Lisa Smith as the Director of Mesquite Family Services.

Smith, a 14-year veteran of The Salvation Army, has been serving as the interim director since February. “Mesquite is a wonderful community. I am looking forward to discovering how The Salvation Army can continue to best serve this community’s individuals and families in need, enhancing the community for all of us,” said Smith.

The Salvation Army in Mesquite serves the communities of Mesquite and Bunkerville, assisting with SNAP, Medicaid, TANF and child care subsidy applications. The site also provides those in need with food, clothing, furniture, school supplies, bottled water for K-12 students, and daily fresh loaves of bread. Smith will be carrying on a tradition in leading the Angel Tree program at Christmas.

Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and the food pantry is open Fridays from 8-11 a.m. SNAP, Medicaid, TANF and child care subsidy application assistance are provided Fridays 12-3 p.m.
