“It’s been absolutely wonderful,” said Jo Harmon, the lead supervisor for the food and beverage department at the Eureka Casino Hotel Resort. “We had a line first thing this morning.”

With the opening of the Rising Star Sports Ranch being moved up to October 1, the Eureka moved up their hiring process to July 12 so that initial meetings and trainings could begin by September 1.

On site were the heads of the main departments; Food and Beverage, Hospitality and others, as well as two radio stations that promoted the job fair to local areas.

Overall, each department was satisfied with the turnout, roughly 50 in each application pool halfway through the event.

Wages throughout all of the open positions start at minimum wage and vary upon experience.

With 210 hotel rooms at the Rising Star, the hospitality department is actively seeking employees. “We’re looking to hire at least 20 housekeepers,” said Tim Marleau, Director of Resort Operations.

“If you successfully complete your 90 days of employment as a housekeeper, you will get a $350 bonus for completing that work period,” said Bhavishi Patel. “We are looking for people who get our culture,” she added, speaking towards the sports theme of the ranch as well as the ethic and care the Eureka Casino Resort has been known for since opening in Mesquite.

Staff at the event also had laptops on site for applicants to apply through the website, http://risingstarsportsranch.com/careers/, and encourages others to do so over the next couple months.
