The local Mesquite Council of the Knights of Columbus is planning on selling fireworks this year.

The proceeds will go to the Mesquite Reads Program, a program to help all of our children in Mesquite to read at the 3rd grade level by the time they reach 3rd grade.   The Knights also sponsor many local charities including The Mesquite Little League, The Mesquite Special Olympics, and the local chapter of the Salvation Army.

Chairperson, Joel Sodano, explained that the Knights fireworks booth has moved to parking lot at the Eureka Casino. Joel said, “we moved to this location because we think it’s a better location than previous. The team at Eureka has also been extremely helpful in supporting our charity. They are not only providing us with the location at no cost but they are even supplying us with power, water, and other support.”

The K of C fireworks stand will be open from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Thursday June 30 through Monday

July 4.   Sodano explained “We only sell safe and sane fireworks. That means they have been approved for use by the Nevada State Fire Marshall. You should make sure that you are buying legal fireworks. If you are caught with illegal fireworks the police may not only confiscate them …you can also be cited or even arrested and face high fines and even jail time.”

“Please help the Knights help the Mesquite Reads Program by buying fireworks from their booth. Have a happy 4th of July.
